Since the 70’s, entrepreneur Ian Schrager, Founder and Chairman of Ian Schrager Company, has achieved international recognition for concepts that have revolutionized the entertainment, residential and hospitality industries.
In the 70’s and 80’s, Schrager and his late business partner, Steve Rubell, created the legendary Studio 54 and Palladium nightclubs. Shortly after, the pair turned their attention to the hotel industry as they introduced the concept of the “boutique hotel” to the world with their 1984 opening of Morgans Hotel.
In 2005, Schrager sold Morgans Hotel Group to launch his own concept, Ian Schrager Company, which owns, develops and manages hotels, residential and mixed-use projects.
Most recently, Schrager collaborated with Marriott International to introduce EDITION.
Together Marriott and I have a new vision and plan to radically rethink and catapult the boutique/lifestyle category hotel into the present by capturing the spirit of the times.
